Kyrie Irving, Nike, and Nickelodeon Channel Their Youth with Release of the “SpongeBob SquarePants” Collection

Nike and Nickelodeon are going to have you wish you lived in Bikini Bottom with the release of their new SpongeBob SquarePants Kyrie Irving collection. The Nike Basketball pack, inspired by the storied children’s show, will feature five sneakers with each pair coinciding with a character from the series. The Nike Kyrie 5 has had a successful span for almost a year and this pack is a great way to cap off its release run. SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, and Squidward Tentacles will each grace the silhouette of the Kyrie 5, while Mr. Krabs and Sandy Cheeks each get their own Nike Kyrie Low 2 edition. The first-ever episode of SpongeBob graced television screens in 1999 and this Kyrie x SpongeBob collaboration is a considerable way to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary. Kyrie Irving has been a fan of the series since he was a kid and felt this collaboration with the show, along with the help of Nike, would exemplify the show’s impact across numerous childhood generations.

With SpongeBob SquarePants spanning twenty years, kids and young adults across all age brackets can enjoy this pack and what it stands for. The ‘SpongeBob’ and ‘Patrick’ colorways of the Kyrie 5 are rightfully so the most demanded out of the pack. Many hoopers even anticipate wanting to wear both at the same time, with a SpongeBob shoe on one foot and Patrick shoe on the other. The sleeper of the Nickelodeon animated series pack could be the ‘Mr. Krabs’ Kyrie Low 2. I mean how cool is it to have Plankton squashed like a bug on the inside of your shoe!?
