Joe Freshgoods and New Balance reveal ‘No Emotions Are Emotions’ collection

Celebs

NBA All-Star is a historic time for on-court wear. From the “Big Bang” LeBrons to the “Galaxy” KD 4s, some of the most memorable kicks of All-Star weekend come on court. There may be debate over whether the year’s best All-Star kicks came on or off the court but they definitely come from this Joe Freshgoods x New Balance collaboration. Chicago native Joe Freshgoods has joined forces with New Balance for All-Star Weekend. Alongside a pair of incredible colorways of the New Balance 992 and Kawhi’s Omn1s, Joe’s Don’t Be Mad imprint collides with New Balance for the “No Emotions are Emotions” collection.

The tonal 992s could be seen as Valentine’s Day inspired since it falls during All-Star weekend but the shades of red are actually meant to mimic the anatomy of the heart, even coming with an extra pair of blue laces seemingly inspired by veins. The shoes tie into Joe’s passion for tie-dye with the colorful sole insert. The ‘No Emotions Are Emotions’ mantra comes full circle on the New Balance Omn1s that Kawhi has already been spotted hooping in. The gradient from tan to pink is as subtle as the stoic ‘emoji’ style faces that harken to Joe’s own smiley face logo, the Omn1s reflect both Kawhi’s demeanor on the floor and Joe’s approach to work. In an interview with Complex, Joe explained the meaning saying,

“It’s pretty much for people in a world that don’t speak loudly about what they’re going to do. They just do it. You know what I’m saying? I think sometimes people are known for always having to be loud and vocal to get a point across. So I think, what ‘No Emotions Are Emotions’ means to me it’s just like, we’re not going to talk about what we’re going to do. We’re not going to create a scene. We just going to get it done. And that’s kind of my whole narrative around All-Star Weekend. It’s just like, I’m going to just keep showing these brands, these companies, that we are just gonna get it done.”

The collection does more than just get it done. The shades of red and pink spill over into the gear as well giving a vibrancy to the collection, it even features a ‘Don’t Be Mad’ Kawhi Leonard jersey and tie-dye pants resonate the same energy as the 992s. The New Balance x Joe Freshgoods collection will only be available in Chicago during All-Star weekend. Bring your tents if you plan on copping this impeccable collaboration.

Nike and Colin Kaepernick Set to Release Air Force 1

Nike and Colin Kaepernick Set to Release Air Force 1

Featured

Colin Kaepernick’s football workout in front of NFL teams might not have gone as planned, but that’s not stopping the Swoosh from releasing kicks with Kap’s namesake attached to them. Throughout the past few years, Nike has stayed by the former NFL quarterback’s side and even help promote Colin Kaepernick’s beliefs and viewpoints. The Nike Air Force 1 is not only one of the most classic silhouettes of all time, but has seen a burst in popularity among consumers in the recent months to a year.

Premium black leather dresses the uppers of this Nike Air Force 1 x Colin Kaepernick. The entire shoe consists of the colors black and white, in addition to its reflective swooshes and clear outsole. The heel tab on both the right and left shoes displays a portrait of Colin Kaepernick in his recognizable afro hair style. The tongues feature Kap’s personal “K” logo not to be outdone with the number “7” hang tag included as well. Look for these shoes to be released on December 23rd in North America and Nike stores, the SNKRS app, and select retailers. What is noteworthy about this release is that it will come in adult, toddler, and little kids sizes. A wider-spread, global release, is expected at a later date.

Nike Air Ship x Air Jordan 1 “New Beginnings” Pack

After decades of rumors, Nike and Jordan Brand are finally acknowledging the historical Nike Air Ship and its role in building the Jordan mythos. For years it has been widely believed that the legendary shoe banned by the NBA was the Nike Air Ship and not the Nike Air Jordan 1 as branded by Nike. Outside of a mysterious teaser on Twitter back in 2014, not much else had been heard of the Air Ship. With 2020 being the 35th celebration of Air Jordan, Jordan Brand and Nike are finally set to bring back the Air Ship.

Fragment designer originally Hiroshi Fujiwara unveiled the double pack that includes an Air Jordan 1 in a new Red/White colorway with an OG style hangtag. The pack comes in an oversized box with design split with a blueprint style grid on the Air Ship side and the classic black and red box on the Air Jordan 1 side. The Air Jordan “New Beginnings” Pack is set to release in February 2020.

Nike Announces the Release Date for The KD 12 “Aunt Pearl”

Nike Announces the Release Date for The KD 12 “Aunt Pearl”

Featured

Kevin Durant has included a special tribute to his late aunt Pearl in his shoe line since the KD 4. Alongside the Kay Yow Fund, KD continues to craft extremely personal and wondrously beautiful silhouette. Every year, KD’s Aunt Pearl colorway stands tall amongst the others, not just among his own colorways but throughout many of the Nike Basketball PEs. For this year’s iteration, KD and his team are reaching back to previous Aunt Pearl models for inspiration. The most notable part is the winged forefoot strap taken from the KD 7.

This new model also revives the pearl graphic from the KD 4 on the collar foam, the KD 5’s sock liner graphic, the rose graphic on the heel from the K6, the heel’s embroidery is lifted from the KD 9, whereas the soft material on the tongue, collar, and Swoosh are originally found on the KD 10, the marbling on the outsole comes from the KD 11. Not only is this year’s ‘Aunt Pearl’ variation a tribute to a special person in Kevin Durant’s life but a reflection of his growth as a player. The ‘Aunt Pearl’ KD 12 is set to drop December 27th at select Nike retailers.
