SZA is back with her new Ty Dolla $ign-assisted single “Hit Different,” accompanied by a stunning video, marking the artist directorial debut.
Just wanted to start sharing stuff🥴🥺.. first time directing ..thank you to everyone involved that brought my heart to life .. thank u for putting up w me #TDE. 🙏🏾dump on the way 🕊 https://t.co/y9hLn1wX4cpic.twitter.com/HmNcisLwAn
SZA hits us with the same hypnotic melodies that fans loved on her debut album Ctrl, coupled with Ty’s smooth flow anchoring the song with a catchy hook. This is a promising return to the spotlight.
Produced by The Neptunes, the mid-tempo bop showcases SZA’s hypnotic melodies alongside Ty’s smooth flow. Along with the song, she has released a stunning video, marking her directorial debut.
The Neptunes-produced is a dream collaboration for SZA as she told Apple Music in a recent interview.
“I can’t really wrap my head around the experience and I think more so I’m fangirling off of having a track produced by probably the most formative producers and artists for me when I was growing up,” she said.
“I cried just explaining to Pharrell what he meant to me growing up here in the burbs—being one of five black people in my radius. It just was really crazy because you have your idols in your mind and I avoid mine all the time in case it don’t go well. And I just was really astonished. Chad was just perfect and Pharrell was just perfect. It was too perfect.”
The stylish, SZA-directed video, finds her dancing with a group of women among broken-down cars through an auto junkyard as she recounts the highs and lows of an intoxicating relationship. Until taking a solo about three minutes in when the song’s tempo slows to an ambient chill.
It’s been three years since SZA released her debut album, but the long-awaited follow-up to Ctrl is finally seems to be in the near future with this single.
“ I just really want to put out more music and more—this body of work that I’ve been working on…everything sounds different,” she said. “But it all sounds like me. But I realized…as long as the essence of me is in it I’m not really stressed about continuity or making sense to anybody. I’ve been making a shit ton of music. If you really leave it up to me, ain’t no telling when shit’s gonna come out because I have anxiety… I’ve never felt so loose in the world before.”
Drake was right when he said Shit don’t even usually get this big without a Bieber face…”
DJ Khaled surprises fans this morning by dropping a massive video for his hit single “Popstar.” Directed by X, this eight-minute clip enlist the help of one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, Justin Bieber.
In the opening scene, a relentless Khaled tries to get Drake to shoot a video for the track. Well the restrictions on international due to COVID-19, isn’t helping. Add on the fact Drake is trying to finalize his own album Certified Lover Boy, where is he gonna find time to show a video.
After receiving a barrage of calls and texts from Khaled, Drizzy calls in a favor asking the Biebs to star in the video in his place.
The video then cuts to a morning-after scene, with Bieber passed out in bed surrounded by women. A mansion full of partiers ready to keep the festivities going.Bieber shows off his tatted chest and dance moves while rapping along to Drake’s lyrics and draped in his flashy wardrobe. His manager Scooter Braun even makes a cameo.
At the end of the video it turns out this was in fact, a complete dream sequence for the singer. But here’s the twist as the Justin and Hailey take their dog for a morning walk, the pop star’s phone rings and he looks down to see a call from Drake.
“Popstar” was released in July alongside “Greece” and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Both tracks are set to appear on Khaled’s upcoming album Khaled Khaled.
Travis has been a busy man, following last weeks release of his brand new song off the soundtrack to Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated spy thriller Tenet. Travis Scott has announced his collaboration with the fast food giant McDonald’s.
Travis previously hinted that he was working on a “secret project” during his cover story with GQ. “Tell me if you’re fucking with this,” he told the magazine before adding, “Fire, right?”
Prior to the announcement, an ad for the “Travis Scott Meal” leaked online. After weeks of rumors and leaks, he takes to social media on Thursday, making it official.
In a leaked memo, obtained by Business Insider, McDonald’s chief marketing officer Morgan Flatley spoke about the collab.
“From his impossible-to-get Nike sneaker line, to a cereal collab with General Mills that sold out in 30 seconds, to a record-setting virtual concert series inside Fortnite, Travis Scott is the definition of big in culture,” reads the memo. “Beyond this, he is a true fan of McDonald’s and our cravable, iconic food. He will resonate and spark excitement with our youthful multicultural customers, and has a few surprises to delight our crew and ensure they are part of the excitement.”
The limited time meal will include a Quarter Pounder, Sprite, and French fries for the price $6
In addition to the limited time meal, there also appears to be a Happy Meal toy set including a figurine of Travis, complete with French fries, soft drink, burger, and even a mask.
This partnership is key to remaining relevant and winning over younger customers, Travis unique ability to see and have a hand in where culture is going coupled with his huge followership and social-media footprint, were sited as him being perfect person to reach people under the age of 34. As it’s becoming more and more challenging for brands to reach them.
Travis is reportedly the first of more celebrity collaborations McDonald’s is planning. “We can’t wait to share the rest of the lineup,” Flatley adds in the memo.
However the partnership has caused some controversy within McDonald’s, with some franchisees pushing back against a deal with the rapper. These franchisees felt that a deal with a rapper known partly for explicit lyrics was a departure from the chain’s more family-friendly voice.
But it seem like people have forgotten that the fast food giant has team up with rappers in the past to reach younger audiences. Pusha T wrote the “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle for McDonald’s, making him the composer of the fast food chain’s longest-running marketing campaign in its 76-year history.
Meanwhile, he continues to build anticipation for his next album, which fans have speculated is called Utopia.
Last week, Big Sean teased his Lil Wayne collaboration “Don Life” following a release of his collaboration with Nipsey Hussle on “Deep Reverence.”
In just five days Sean will bedropping Detroit 2, before it’s release fans are giving one more sample of what to expect on this album with new song and accompanying video “Harder Than My Demons.”
This Mike WiLL Made-It and DJ Khalil-produced track, features a standout church choir sample with uptempo drums throughout, pushing Sean to rap double-time. As he reflects on his evolution and faith, while Justin Bieber makes an uncredited vocal cameo at the end.
Being black in this country, Im looking for motivation right now, in life and music! It’s been too much trauma n tragedy lately. I’m a do my part, do what I can, I just pray y’all hear me out! 🙏🏾🌍🌹🚀
In the powerful video, transitions from shots in an old church to burning nooses and baptism scenes. Along with children wearing angel wings, but viewers watch a majority of the video from a low angle shot, where the subject appear above us.
Sean’s opening verse deals with his personal health (even though it might tread into anti-vaxxer territory). Also shares his thoughts on vaccinations (“No sir, I don’t even do flu shots”) and brushes off his haters. “But I gotta thank God though / ‘Cause he got me working harder than my demons.”
Detroit 2 arrives Friday, marking the sequel or follow-up to his initial Detroit mixtape released over eight years ago.
“When I was making Detroit 2, I felt like I was returning to my roots but with a stronger foundation. The music reminded me of the Detroit mixtape while I was making it,” he told New Yorkmagazine. “But I think people will be able to relate to [the album] wherever they’re from. Detroit is an inclusive city. A lot of people haven’t been, but Detroit is fun, man. That shit is the best. It ain’t bougie. It ain’t Hollywood. We real people from there.”
It’s been over three years since Sean’s last solo album, I Decided, but don’t worry, it will not take that long for a follow-up to Detroit 2. Sean said this album has inspired to keep going so expect more to be on the way. Until then check out the video below.
The star trio of Elodie Davis (Brianna Hildebrand), Tabitha Foster (Quintessa Swindell), and Moe Truax (Kiana Madeira) have returned to Netflix for the second season of Trinket on Aug. 25, and if the first season got us into the mind of a shoplifter, while the second and final season was the 12- step process for addiction recovery. (sort of)
We pick up right where we left off as only two days have passed since the season 1 finale, but what Elodie believed to be a great opportunity to choose her own destiny and go where she wants instead of being shipped off. She soon realizes the life on the road with rock star Sabine (Kat Cunning) isn’t the best option, pushing Elodie in ways that don’t make her grow but just uncomfortable. Whether pushing her to sing in front of a group or kissing another girl in front of her, that’s it for her. So the rose-tinted glass she saw her in have worn off and life on the road with Sabine is over. Also being reduced to nothing but a roadie is not the move.
As she is on her way back to Portland, Her Father confronts Tabitha and Moe to hopefully figure out where she could’ve run away. He eventually gets a call from Elodie where she tries to negotiate her return home, their conversation is a bit combative at first once his wife gets him to calm down and agree not to send her away Elodie return was a go.
Elodie, Tabitha, and Moe making their public debut as friends.
Elodie returns home went as you would expect it, her father practically putting her on lockdown until she earns his trust again. As for her return to school Moe, Tabitha, and Elodie are ready to make their public debut as friends (a step up from how they had a secret alliance in season one). As a punishment and way to keep her free time to a minimum, her dad and stepmom force her to get involved in an after-school program. Unsure of what program to join Elodie’s love for music and ukulele skills lead to joining the school band.
On the first day of practice, she meets the cute and quirky clarinet player, Jillian (Chloë Levine) who seems to have instant chemistry, but Elodie isn’t totally sure if her new crush is into girls. After checking her Instagram page to decipher where she lands on the spectrum, views are left clueless until Jillian asks Elodie about coming to a Halloween party that Elodie now has to convince her dad to go. At this party Jillian dressing as Sally Ride “the first gay woman in space,” who didn’t come out until later in life. The two eventually kiss, but Jillian shares that she’s still figuring out her sexuality and grappling with how to tell her parents. But one thing is for sure: they want to be together.
Elodie new crush Jillian
So Elodie has found a romance more her speed, Moe, on the other hand, is dealing with several obstacles in her relationship with Noah (Odiseas Georgiadis). Not knowing the first thing about being a girlfriend she comments that it was much easier being lowkey about their relationship then out in the open. However that what she’s got Tabitha for, the two work together to make a sign in support of Noah for the big game. but not know the first thing about sports she yells during a penalty kick unintentionally causes Noah to miss a potential game-winning goal (ouch).
Moe and Noah
They get into an argument, which leads Moe to believe that they’ve broken up. She confides in Chase (Nik Dodani) — one of her robotics club teammates — and ends up kissing him in the robotics lab. Tabitha’s ex-best friend, Kayla (Jessica Lynn Skinner). who just so happens to be walking by the room spots them, takes a picture and sends it to Brady (Brandon Butler). So of course he uses this to Blackmail her into stealing the midterm exam from the teacher whose club adviser. On top of that, her home life is upended by the sudden reemergence of her brother, Ben (Andrew Jacobs), who returns from military school and father, Danny (Andrew Keegan).
Tabitha’s journey in season two is all about rediscovering her worth and embracing her true self. No longer with Brady, but initially continuing her romance with Lula (Henry Zaga) from the first installment. However, Lula suddenly disappears, ghosting her only because he stole her credit card information and ran up the bill.
Her biggest moment of the season was stand up to Brady for getting hostile with Moe at the Halloween party and pulling a knife on him and yelling, “You don’t f*ck with me, and you don’t ever f*ck with my girls, OK?” This newfound confidence does eventually lead to a new hairstyle, deciding to get her hair braided to embrace a sense of cultural ownership and a budding relationship with Ben. They try to keep their fling a secret, but it eventually comes to light and creates a rift between Tabitha and Moe. The two best friends take some time apart before they hash things out, allowing Tabitha and Ben to continue seeing each other.
However, Tabitha ultimately decides to be single and figure herself out is best for her. In Tabitha’s home life, she’s still dealing with her parent’s split due to her father’s infidelities. She’s very cold toward her dad at first but comes around to mending their relationship. While she and her mother develop a closer bond, and Tabitha gains a better understanding of herself as a Black woman.
Brady who acts as the shows, main antagonist we where all puzzled to find out he admitted to sinking his own car until we understand his faking a mental health issue such as depression as a way to retake exams to boost his GPA. The blackmailing of Moeand eventual sabotage of her relationship with Noah after assuming she told the teacher he stole the test answers came back to bite him in the ass. As the trio unites at the school at midnight to assemble an installation for everyone to see. Displaying photos of Tabitha’s bruises caused by Brady and derogatory texts that he’s sent her. While also confessing to stealing the test in a letter that reads,
“We don’t expect you to like us, or even understand us, but we just want the truth to be known. Because we may be thieves, but we’re not liars. We stole the test. But it’s part of a bigger story.”
While the school reacts to the shocking exhibit, Tabitha drives Moe and Elodie to the beach where Elodie sprinkles her mom’s ashes. That was the finishing touches in the Netflix series as Trinkets has officially ended with its second and final season.
