Nike and Nickelodeon are going to have you wish you lived in Bikini Bottom with the release of their new SpongeBob SquarePants Kyrie Irving collection. The Nike Basketball pack, inspired by the storied children’s show, will feature five sneakers with each pair coinciding with a character from the series. The Nike Kyrie 5 has had a successful span for almost a year and this pack is a great way to cap off its release run. SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, and Squidward Tentacles will each grace the silhouette of the Kyrie 5, while Mr. Krabs and Sandy Cheeks each get their own Nike Kyrie Low 2 edition. The first-ever episode of SpongeBob graced television screens in 1999 and this Kyrie x SpongeBob collaboration is a considerable way to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary. Kyrie Irving has been a fan of the series since he was a kid and felt this collaboration with the show, along with the help of Nike, would exemplify the show’s impact across numerous childhood generations.

With SpongeBob SquarePants spanning twenty years, kids and young adults across all age brackets can enjoy this pack and what it stands for. The ‘SpongeBob’ and ‘Patrick’ colorways of the Kyrie 5 are rightfully so the most demanded out of the pack. Many hoopers even anticipate wanting to wear both at the same time, with a SpongeBob shoe on one foot and Patrick shoe on the other. The sleeper of the Nickelodeon animated series pack could be the ‘Mr. Krabs’ Kyrie Low 2. I mean how cool is it to have Plankton squashed like a bug on the inside of your shoe!? Each Kyrie 5 in the pack will retail for $130, while the Kyrie Low 2’s will cost $110. A release date is slated for August 10th.

MLB Trade Deadline: Everything You Need to Know

MLB Trade Deadline: Everything You Need to Know

Featured

The day has officially come. The 2019 MLB Trade Deadline is here. Teams have until 4pm EST today to agree upon deals. It’s every contender’s last chance to make one or two more roster tweaks with the postseason on the horizon. On the flip side, it’s every non-contenders last chance to sell high on their current players in hopes to stockpile assets heading into the 2020 season.

The first big piece was moved two days ago, as the NY Mets shocked the league by acquiring big name Blue Jays’ pitcher Marcus Stroman. Then last night happened. A blockbuster deal sending P Trevor Bauer to the Reds, OF Yasiel Puig, OF Franmil Reyes, P Logan Allen, P Scott Moss, and 3B Victor Nova to the Indians, and OF Taylor Trammell to the Padres. As the trade news broke, half of the current Reds team (including Yasial Puig whom was dealt just minutes before) was in the midst of a complete melee with the Pirates dugout. In addition to Puig, let’s not forget Trevor Bauer’s final moments as an Indian, as he launched a ball from the mound over the center field fence in frustration earlier this week.

It’s easy to say that this has been a fun week of baseball. Emotions are beginning to unfold and teams are doing every last thing in their power to position themselves to compete. Look no further than here, as we have you covered for the final hours leading up to the deadline.

While there should be plenty more to come, here’s a look at recent transactions that have gotten us to this point:

Wake Up and Smell the Roses; Big Sean drops videos for Single Again

Wake Up and Smell the Roses; Big Sean drops videos for Single Again

Celebs

The realization the Big Sean and Jhené Aiko are no longer together can give anyone “the feels”and I’m not crying, you’re crying. The two called it quits back in March shortly after Aiko releasing “Triggered” so it’s only right Sean Don celebrates his independence with “Single Again.”

Following his “Overtime” freestyle, the Detroit MC collaborated with (ex) Jhené Aiko and Ty Dolla $ign over a sample of Carl Thomas’ “I Wish,” Sean had teased the videos release on Monday with some funny video of field reporters interviewing people who had their opinions if he was guilty or innocent of cheating.

The lyrics on this track show his maturity and growth following the break up going from a single like “I Don’t F$@k wit You” to a song with a more mellow tone that preaches to listeners to make sure you’re good mentally.

“What have you done for yourself? What have you done for your mental health? (Yeah, yeah) I even tried the drugs and they didn’t help. Short term fix, that breaks everything else (Oh, oh)”

Directed by Lawrence Lamont the video stars Ryan Destiny and Keith Powers as a couple expecting but the relationship isn’t in a good place because of their opposing opinions on Big Sean’s situation. An appearance from Detroit native Haha Davis was made to show his support for Sean as a “Free man, free man yeah that’s him.” While Sean raps from inside a car on his way to court, on top of a news station van surrounded by passionate fans and eventually the middle of a street with a dump truck full of roses.

“The visual highlights a few social issues, including social media’s ability to sway people’s opinions to the point of disharmony, the social pressures faced by Millennials and Generation Y and media coverage of the Black man,” said Lawrence Lamont, “While bringing these key issues to light, I also wanted to capture Detroit’s beautiful spirit and style.”

Fans should be on the lookout for his project Don Life, sometime later this year and during a recent interview with Zane Lowe, he promises it will keep his day-one fans very happy.

“I just been returning to my roots, bro,” Sean said. “I’ve just been getting back to having fun with it. At one point, I felt like it might have started to become like a burden, or like work, but now it’s just fun. So this is just me having fun bro, expressing myself. It was a time well spent.”

Overall the video was enjoyable and please do forget to wake up and smell the roses. Check out the video for “Single Again” Below:

No Guidance Video Ends in A Humorous Dance Battle

No Guidance Video Ends in A Humorous Dance Battle

Celebs

The song no one saw coming has finally got a visual, the collaboration of Chris Brown and Drake on the hit single “No Guidance” off  Chris Brown’s latest project “Indigo.” As Drake continues to enjoy his championship summer from dropping a championship pack mixtapes to his producer credit on the new show “Euphoria.”

Directed by Chris Robinson the short nine-minute film pokes fun at the past beef between the two, The two see each other at a party and you can see the distaste they have for each other as they come face to face at the Miami party. The tense encounter is broken up by the appearance of a little kid who shares Drake’s thoughts on the singer.

The kid the asked Brown, “So what’s it gonna be?” Brown lets him know by whispering his response, the kid the lets everyone know by yelling “Dance Battle!” Brow then delivers a choreographed dance set to “No Guidance,” discounting the performance the Canadian rapper then shows off his “dance moves” which clears out the party.

Rick Ross and Drake Together Again in New Single “Gold Roses”

Rick Ross and Drake Together Again in New Single “Gold Roses”

Celebs

Drake is having the best summer in 2019 but is still looking ahead to 2020. Following Rick Ross feature on Drake’s “Money in the Grave,” it’s only seemed necessary the 6 God return the favor in Ross’ “Gold Roses.”

This single however stems from a conversation the two were having about the late Nipsey Hussle. Ross hopes Nipsey had an idea of the impact that he made and left on these streets. This is just one of many song/references to Nipsey since his passing. Many artists have felt that Nipsey wasn’t celebrated nationally for the things he did for the community until he was no longer here. The Sentiment can be felt from which Drake says,

“ …Before I’m gone outta this place, put some flowers in my face, won’t you?
Let me know that I did okay, don’t wait ’til some other day, they love to wait ’til it’s too late, it’s too late
“

The track comes off Ross’ upcoming album Port of Miami 2, which drops August 9th via MMG/Epic.  As a sequel to his debut album“Port of Miami,” back in 2006, it’s only right he brings it back to where it all started. Ross will also release a memoir, HURRICANES, on September 3rd, co-written by Neil Martinez-Belkin. The book will detail Ross’ upbringing, his rise in the industry and his time working as a drug dealer.

“My story has always been deeper than rap,” Ross said, “With this book, I wanted to go deeper than I ever have. I wanted to tell people about the life of William Leonard Roberts.”

Wayne was right, everything is going to be alright as long as Drake is on every hook “Gold Roses” is another Drake-assisted jewel on the Rozay discography.
