The Minnesota Timberwolves were coming into tonight’s game after losing in Cleveland, but wanted to remain undefeated at home in 2026. The Timberwolves had the San Antonio Spurs in town with their bright future star Victor Wembanyama, who were looking to get a W tonight.
The game started out extremely rough for the Minnesota Timberwolves as the Spurs went on a 16-0 run as Victor Wembanyama was able to impact the game in his limited minutes during that stretch. The San Antonio Spurs are no slouch as they are one of the best teams in the Western Conference in the depth on their team was on full display tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves as they had six players and double figures. Victor Wembanyama was incredible tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves with his limited Minutes, but still managed to finish with 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist.
Some of the shots that Victor was making over Rudy Gobert were just unfair and it’s crazy that the NBA has a talent like this in the league that will carry them for a long time coming. The impact that Victor has on both ends of the floor was on full display tonight until that fourth quarter when the Timberwolves decided to put Julius Randall on him and give him that physicality. The job that Julius Randall did on Victor Wembanyama was impressive in the fourth quarter as he made everything tough on him and Julius was able to get his offense going as well on the second chance points down the stretch.
The Tim showed that they have a lot of heart tonight and they didn’t back down when the Spurs had a big lead. Anthony Edwards didn’t have his best first 3 quarters of the game, but he showed up in the fourth quarter when it mattered for his team. Anthony Edwards has been the best player in clutch time points in the NBA this season And tonight down the stretch, he put on the show for the Minnesota Timberwolves fans in Target Center.
Anthony Edwards finished with 23 points but none more impressive than the bank shot he made on Victor Wembanyama to seal the game for the Timberwolves. It doesn’t matter where he’s playing or what he’s playing Anthony Edwards seems to be the real deal and he turns on another gear when the moment is as bright as it can be like tonight against the Spurs.
The Timberwolves had six players in double figures tonight and Jaden McDaniels was the player of the game in Anthony Edwards eyes for the way he played on both ends. Donte DiVincenzo made some clutch shots in this game and seemed to be in a smooth rhythm from wherever he shot at tonight. Rudy Gobert didn’t do too much tonight, but defensively he made an impact when needed the most, but might have a suspension looming after his fragrant foul on Victor Wembanyama for not closing out the shooter space.
Up next to Minnesota Timberwolves will be going against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks as they try to stack up some more wins to start a new winning streak.
