Kicks Through the Lens (Week 9 of Playoffs)

Featured

There’s a reason why our countdown has only been 5 pairs for a few weeks now. It’s just slim pickings when you only have two teams left playing and 2-3 players wearing heat on the court. Nonetheless, our Kicks Through the Lens for this week had some bangers in it. P.J. Tucker brought out a new player exclusive colorway in the Kobe 6 Protros. One Milwaukee Bucks player turned back the clock and sported some Kobe 10 Elite Highs. Tucker also rocked one of the rarest Jordan samples you’ll ever see. Scroll below to check out this week’s Top 5.

5. Nike Kobe 6 Protro P.E. – Khris Middleton

With only a week or so left of the 2020-21 NBA season our Kicks Through the Lens articles are about to wrap up until the fall. Devin Booker wanted to remind all of us this past week that he too can pull out some heat like Tucker and Galloway. It is now clear that the Kobe 4’s are most likely Booker’s favorite Bryant signature sneaker as he broke out a never-before-seen UNDFTD collab of them this past week. Tucker sported some major Oregon P.E. heat as well as a Kobe 4 of his own. Due to there only being two teams left, our Kicks Through the Lens articles for the rest of season will feature on-foot images from both practice and games. Scroll below to see who snagged our five spots this week in our countdown.

The stage is set, not only for the two best teams in the NBA, but for the two most prominent sneaker aficionados in the league. The Suns and Bucks will battle it out for the Larry O’Brien trophy, while another “series” in and of itself will be taking place between P.J. Tucker and Langston Galloway. At no time has there been a sneaker showdown of this extent in an NBA Finals between two players who have never had their own signature sneaker. This past week we saw P.J. Tucker debut the new Zoom Freak 3’s before Giannis even did. Langston Galloway dug into his archive of some venerable KD and LeBron models; rocking kicks older than ten years . Lastly, Tucker brought back a classic Nike basketball silhouette in a fan-favorite color scheme made just for certain players. Scroll below to see which pair grabbed the top spot in this week’s Kicks Through the Lens.

5. 2018 Nike PG 2.5 “Playstation Multi-Color” – Paul George

A Closer Look at the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Bordeaux”

A Closer Look at the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Bordeaux”

Sneaker Releases

The Air Jordan 1 “Bordeaux” arrive in much the same styling as the  “Midnight Navy” Air Jordan 1 CO.JP release, however, it forgoes the stitched tongue branding in favor of a traditional tag. Its overlays also opt for leather — not nubuck as seen on the blue pair.

Air Jordan 1 High OG Bordeaux

Air Jordan 1 High OG “Bordeaux” Color: Bordeaux/White-Metallic Silver Style Code: 555088-611 Release Date: November 20, 2021 Price: $170

Dressed in White leather upper with Bordeaux overlays and Silver Swoosh and Wings logos, similar to the A White midsole atop a Bordeaux rubber outsole that completes the design. While the colorway has been used before on other silhouettes, the Air Jordan 1 High hasn’t become accustomed to the shade of burgundy like other sneakers. This bright red, almost purple-like shade alludes to luxury just like a nice glass of Bourdeaux wine.

Officially slated to release on November 20th at select retailers and Nike.com set at $170 USD. Checkout image of the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Bordeaux” below:

A Closer Look at the Women’s Exclusive Air Jordan 4 Inspiration By Neutral Shades of Makeup

A Closer Look at the Women’s Exclusive Air Jordan 4 Inspiration By Neutral Shades of Makeup

Sneakers

In the past few years, Jordan has made concerted efforts to expand its women’s line and the new women’s exclusive colorway of Michael Jordan’s fourth signature shoe that will be released during Fall 2021. The Air Jordan 4 “Shimmer” similar to past exclusives, the “Shimmer” doesn’t overtly rely on feminine tropes. Instead, it rivals that of any men’s offerings through a palette heavily autumnal in aesthetic.

Air Jordan 4 Shimmer

Air Jordan 4 WMNS “Shimmer” Color: Shimmer/Bronze Eclipse-Orange Quartz-Metallic Silver Style Code: DJ0675-200 Release Date: September 3, 2021 Price: $190

This model is highlighted by buttery soft nubuck overlays and burnished leather meant to age and sheen naturally with time in a Shimmer, Bronze Eclipse, Orange Quartz, and Metallic Silver color scheme. This Air Jordan 4 takes inspiration from varying neutral shades of makeup. Across the leather construction, a tan shade runs replete, matching the cages and straps just adjacent.

Below, the midsole lightly contrasts in white next to matted trim, Jumpman logos dress in what seems to be silver metallic, and the eyelets lean towards luxury in Bronze Eclipse. The shoe also features transparent TPU wings and lace locks and is topped off by metallic, electroplated Jumpman branding on the tongue, reminiscent of the mirrors used in makeup palettes.

Look for the Air Jordan 4 WMNS “Shimmer” to release on September 3rd at select retailers and Nike.com set at $190 USD.
