BREAKING NEWS: Los Angeles Rams Trade Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens

Featured

The NFL trade deadline is approaching quickly (October 29) but some teams are already making big moves.

Today, the Los Angeles Rams made a move, sending cornerback Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens for linebacker Kenny Young.

Fox Sports’ Rob Parker was the first to report the two teams were discussing a deal for Peters:

Baltimore has been looking for defensive help and now they get to pair their own star corner, Marlon Humphrey, with a big name on the outside in Peters.

The Ravens have fallen off slightly since their hot start to the 2019 season and the hope is that Peters can be the jolt of energy this team needs to be one of the top teams in the AFC.

BREAKING NEWS: New England Patriots Suspend Michael Bennett

BREAKING NEWS: New England Patriots Suspend Michael Bennett

Featured

In the offseason, much was made about the New England Patriots adding Michael Bennett to their defensive line. Many foresaw him as a cheaper replacement to the departed Trey Flowers and that his versatility would allow Bill Belichick to use him in a variety of ways this year.

Well the pass rush in New England has certainly seen a spark, Bennett hasn’t really been much involved. On the year he has 2.5 of the team’s 25 sacks.

The Patriots have opted to use fewer down linemen and often situate themselves in a 2-4-5 alignment. With rookie Chase Winovich making a bigger impact than expected and the team preferring to use Adam Butler, playing time for Bennett has been harder to come by.

The lesser role has not been easy for the former All-Pro to accept. It’s being reported that he got into an argument with the coaching staff, which ultimately led to his week-long suspension.

Primetime Preview: Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (MNF Week 6)

Primetime Preview: Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (MNF Week 6)

Featured

To end week 6 of the NFL season we get a great match up between division rivals at Lambeau Field. The Lions are two weeks revoked from almost handing the Chiefs a loss, but somehow Mahomes and crew pulled out the win. Matt Patricia has the defensive unit working exceptionally well and Rodgers and LaFleur will have their hands full tonight. The Packers are also coming off a strong performance at Jerry World, where Aaron Jones and the rushing attack sliced the Cowboys to shreds, as Jones totaled 4 TDs in the 34-24 beat down. Both teams will be trying to control the clock tonight, so look will Kerryon Johnson and Aaron Jones to get involved early and often.

The Packers new look offense under rookie HC Matt LaFleur hasn’t looked too special so far. Statistically, their offense has been tolerable but not up to par with a normal Aaron Rodgers led attack. They are only averaging 23.8 Pts/game with a measly 244.2 Pass Yards/game. Even with Aaron Jones running the ball well, they only account for 93 Yards/game on the ground. The biggest jump that the Packers took over the off season was the improvement of their defense, especially in the secondary and LB Corps. Their secondary has held opponents to 238 Pass Yards/game, good enough for 13th in the league, while also being a top ten scoring defense allowing only 18.6 Pts/game.

The Lions have been a pleasant surprise so far in 2019. With the defense looking more like a typical Patricia-led unit, the Lions have been in a position to win all of their games so far. Matthew Stafford has been terrific as well, posting the 9th best QBR so far this year. Their offense has been a splendid mesh of the run and passing games, as they rank 9th and 12th in those categories respectively.

So many memorable games have been played between these two, with the last as the ‘Miracle in Motown’ highlighted by the Aaron Rodgers to Richard Rodgers hail mary for the win in week 13 of 2015. The Packers hold the series lead with a record of 100-73-1 against the Lions.

The latest line for the game has the Packers as 3.5 home favorites with an Over/Under of 45.5. Even with two Quarterbacks known for slinging the ball down field, the over isn’t a sure bet here. Both teams want to establish the run and keep the ball away from the other. As both teams currently stand with only one loss, this game will have significant impact on the outlook of the NFC North.

Primetime Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers at LA Chargers (SNF Week 6)

Primetime Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers at LA Chargers (SNF Week 6)

Featured

The LA Chargers come into this game (2-3) on the young season. This will be a true test to see if they can bounce back after their loss against the Denver Broncos last week. One thing that’s been missing in the Chargers offense the past two weeks has been Keenan Allen. Keenan has been on a record pace but the Chargers haven’t been able to get the ball to him in those clutch situations. Keenan Allen is one of the best route runners in the league and needs to make sure he connects with his quarterback Philip Rivers. The Chargers have an amazing running game and that’s helped them in the past but still, it’s all about the Allen-Rivers connection. With Melvin Gordon slowly coming back to his original workload the Chargers have a nice dual-threat with Austin Ekler in the mix as well. The Chargers are trying to get back on track and show people that they still have the offense that made them a dominant force last year. The defense has been struggling as of late for the Chargers and they will need to put pressure on Devlin Hodges their 3rd string QB. The run game for the Steelers has yet to go off yet and showed some glimpses against the Bengals. The Chargers will need to slow down James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster if they want to come out of this game with a win. Overall this could be the game that helps the Chargers get back in the win column.

The Steelers’ defense will have their hands full against the LA Chargers. If the Steelers can contain the two RBs in Gordon/Ekler they will have a good day. Pittsburgh has been playing good defense but it hasn’t translated to wins. With  Bush, Watt, and Fitzpatrick in the defense as their playmakers, they will need to get to Phillip Rivers very quick before he gets the ball out. If those playmakers can make a full effort to stop the offensive players like Keenan Allen and Melvin Gordon then they could be in the driver’s seat. With Devlin Hodges behind the center, it will be one of those games where the Steelers will have to lean on Conner and Juju both his playmakers. The Steelers will need to get that ground game going as they did against the Bengals. The Steelers used the wildcat as a weapon and we may see that tonight against LA with Jaylen Samuels. The Steelers don’t have the offensive weapons like they did last year but they can make some noise if they get the running game and Juju going ASAP. The Steelers are (1-4) on the season and they need to have an overall performance from offense, defense, and special teams.

Score Prediction: Chargers 24 – Steelers 17

Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Image result for panthers vs buccaneers lineup.com

Get ready for some NFL football for breakfast. The Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take their game across the pond and play the second consecutive game in England. Unlike last week, this matchup will be featured in the normal 9:30 AM EST slot that previous London games have kicked off at. For the Panthers, Cameron Newton will miss his fourth straight game. However, Carolina has been productive in his absence winning all three games that he’s been sidelined. Christian McCaffrey has vaulted himself into MVP conversation and has carried the offense for the Panthers. They remain in the thick of the NFC South race thanks fully to what McCaffrey has done. Attempting to slow down the multifaceted running back is a rising star in Tampa Bay, Shaquil Barrett. He leads the NFL with nine sacks this season. In the first meeting between these two teams he racked up three of them. Jameis Winston and Bruce Arians have worked together very well so far let’s see if that travels internationally.

PREDICTION: Panthers 24 , Buccaneers 20

1:00 PM EST

Seattle Seahawks vs. Cleveland Browns

Image result for seahawks vs browns lineup.com

These teams have had opposite trajectories to begin this season. The Cleveland Browns entered the season as one of the most hyped teams. In the offseason, they added Odell Beckham Jr. and with Baker Mayfield setting the rookie passing touchdown record a season ago everyone was prepared to see an offensive boom. So far, Cleveland has underwhelmed and finds themselves sitting below .500 through five games. On the other hand, the Seattle Seahawks were an afterthought in the NFC. Several thought that this year would be a down one for Russell Wilson’s team but the quarterback is proving doubters wrong once more. He is on a tear to begin this season and has Seattle sitting at 4-1 just behind the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. Browns fans will be ready to pounce if the Seahawks falter early and Cleveland could surely use a win before a matchup with the New England Patriots in Week 8.

PREDICTIONS: Browns 27 , Seahawks 17

Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Image result for texans vs chiefs lineup.com

Deshaun Watson (12th overall) and Patrick Mahomes (10th overall) were taken just two picks apart in the 2017 NFL Draft. Fast forward to today and they have become two of league’s best and brightest young stars in the league today. On Sunday, they’ll meet for the first time and all eyes will be the pair. Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are coming off an embarrassing loss on primetime television last week against the Indianapolis Colts. An ankle injury slowed down the potent offense and for the first time since Mahomes became a starter Kansas City failed to score 26 points. Watson is fresh off a blazing five-touchdown performance against the Atlanta Falcons. The Texans are tied atop the standings in the AFC South and a win against the Chiefs not only keeps them in the lead but gives them an outside shot at potentially grabbing a first-round bye.

PREDICTION: Chiefs 38 , Texans 27

Washington Redskins vs. Miami Dolphins

Image result for redskins vs dolphins lineup.com

LET’S GET READY TO TUMBLE! Two of the worst teams in the league will square off on Sunday with neither team really looking to win this game trying to preview what will happen is not the way to look at this game. What could come from a loss in this game is a shot at getting their choice of quarterback to rebuild their franchise around. Everyone knew the Miami Dolphins were trying their hardest to ensure that they would be the one’s to get the number one pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Just about every move that they’ve made has led them to more losing. The Washington Redskins were not on that same path, they had just taken their quarterback of the future with their selection of Dwayne Haskins. However, an 0-5 start had cost Jay Gruden his job and there’s no telling what the plan is now as its highly unlikely Bill Callahan remains the head coach past this season. Brian Flores seemingly has the franchise’s backing but Callahan is not only coaching for his current job but his next one.

PREDICTION: Redskins 20 , Dolphins 10

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Minnesota Vikings

Image result for eagles vs vikings lineup.com

The NFC is much more open than the AFC this year and the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings both believe that they are talented enough to represent their conference in the Super Bowl this season. After starting the year off 1-2, the Eagles have won two straight and thanks to some help elsewhere they are sitting pretty in the NFC East. Carson Wentz looks the part now that he’s back healthy. Doug Pederson is still an offensive mastermind. Jordan Howard is showing his worth at running back. Their defense however has a lot of holes. Particularly at corner back where injuries have impacted their talent and depth. Minnesota will be looking to let Kirk Cousins have his moment for a second consecutive week. The Vikings played the leaky New York Giants defense and now they’ll get one just as bad in the Eagles. Adam Thielen was the beneficiary that time and he could have another big game or they could look to make Stefon Diggs happy again.

PREDICTION: Vikings 31 , Eagles 27

New Orleans Saints vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Image result for saints vs jaguars lineups.com

When Drew Brees went down in Week 2 with a thumb injury it seemed like the New Orleans Saints were doomed. Instead, Teddy Bridgewater has filled in brilliantly and he is undefeated in the games that he has started in place of the future Hall of Fame quarterback. With weapons like Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas it’s easy to see why the transition has gone so swimmingly to date. Kamara is dealing with a tender ankle but reports are that he participated in the team’s walkthrough yesterday and will be on the field for the team against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Also proposed to make his return is disgruntled corner back Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey was away from the team for paternity and since he’s returned a back injury has kept him off the field. Following a heart-to-heart with Jaguars owner, Shad Khan, the belief is that Ramsey will be back in uniform. With him back and some more #MinshewMagic Jacksonville could possibly be a threat to pull off an upset.

PREDICTION: Saints 28 , Jaguars 20

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens

Image result for bengals vs ravens lineups.com

A meeting between two AFC North rivals is usually one that leads to a good, tough, hard-fought game. This one will likely not be that. The Lamar Jackson experiment has had its ups and downs in Baltimore but through five weeks they are leading the AFC North at 3-2. Things have been rough for the offense lately but they have an opportunity to bounce back in a big way as the winless Cincinnati Bengals come to town. The Bengals have played as poorly—if not worse—as the Miami Dolphins to begin the season. New head coach Zac Taylor has not been able to bring some of that Sean McVay coaching tree magic with him so far. Andy Dalton looks to be on his last legs as the starting quarterback and if they continue to lose they’ll be in ripe position to find a successor.

PREDICTION: Ravens 33 , Bengals 17

4:05 PM EST

San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams

Image result for 49ers vs rams lineups.com

Under Kyle Shanahan, the San Francisco 49ers have put together some underwhelming seasons. Yet, injuries have often left the roster depleted of his top tier talent. This season that hasn’t been the case. Jimmy Garoppolo has remained healthy and a strong three-headed rushing attack led by Matt Brieda, Tevin Coleman, and Raheem Mostert—first in the NFL in rushing yards per game—have been the key to this team starting the year with an unblemished, 4-0, record. Meanwhile the Los Angeles Rams have fallen from top of the class to middle of the pack. At 3-2 they currently sit in third place in the NFC West. Todd Gurley will miss this game so it will be on Jared Goff and Sean McVay to team up and carry this offense for at least one game. Look out for Aaron Donald to make a statement this game—not that he needs to, we all know how good he is. These two teams will need this win in more ways than one.

PREDICTION: Rams 28 , 49ers 16

Atlanta Falcons vs. Arizona Cardinals

Image result for falcons vs cardinals lineups.com

The Atlanta Falcons have easily been one of the biggest disappointment in the NFL this season. They enter Week 6 with a 1-4 record and have little to no shot at making the playoffs. Though Arthur Blank has backed him publicly, if things get worse than Dan Quinn could possibly be out of job. He’s got to hope that Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and the rest of the offense can figure out a way to turn things around and make their record respectable to finish the year out. In Arizona, there’s no such pressure on Kliff Kingsbury or Kyler Murray. The team got their first win of the season last week—against the Bengals—and any glimmer of hope they can provide this season will go a long way for this franchise’s fan base. The result could be a shootout between two offenses looking to assert themselves and get their team on the right path moving forward.

PREDICTION: Falcons 44 , Cardinals 31

4:25 PM EST

Tenessee Titans vs. Denver Broncos

Image result for titans vs broncos lineups.com

Ladies and gentleman, Vic Fangio and the Denver Broncos finally did it! After a few close calls that ended with the opposing team stealing a victory on game-winning field goals, they got the better of the Los Angeles Chargers a week ago. They hope to carry that momentum with them for another game and get a winning streak going. Phillip Lindsay has been the offensive catalyst for this team and if they want to keep winning they’ll need another big game from the second year running back. They also still have Von Miller coming off the edge on defense and he surely will want to make Marcus Mariota’s day a bad one. Mariota and the Tennessee Titans have been a roller coaster of a team. They might have hit their peak in a resounding Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns on the road. Mike Vrabel’s defense has been leading the way and with Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan patrolling the secondary they have the makings and talent of a top defensive unit.

PREDICTION: Broncos 27 , Titans 20

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Jets

Image result for cowboys vs jets lineups.com

SAM DARNOLD IS BACK, THE NEW YORK JETS ARE A REAL TEAM AGAIN! It was a good run while it lasted Luke Falk—the team released him now that their wonder boy is back in action—but Adam Gase once again has his full array of weapons. Even then, the struggles have been very apparent for this group. Le’Veon Bell has been the steadying presence but with no passing game to speak of teams have opted to load the box and just contain the All-Pro. It will be intriguing to see if there’s any rust with Darnold since he’s been away from the game for over a month. For Dallas, this game presents them with an opportunity to hit the reset button. The Cowboys opened the season with three wins and new offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, was crafting an offense as effective as the Jimmy Johnson era one that were perennial Super Bowl contenders. However, after back-to-back losses to two upper echelon NFC teams (New Orleans and Green Bay) the team finds itself in a fight with Philadelphia just to win the NFC East. Dak Prescott literally threw the game away last week and he’ll hope to make up for that this game as the Jets secondary is one of the worst in the NFL this year.

PREDICTION: Cowboys 34 , Jets 21

With Week 5 kicking off tonight (New York Giants vs. New England Patriots, 8:20 PM EST on Fox and NFL Network) it’s time to unveil where each team sits.

The fun begins below and be sure to check back each Thursday to track how far up or down your favorite team moves from week-to-week.

1. New England Patriots 5-0 (LW: 2)

You can only play who’s in front of you and New England has done an amazing job of finding ways to absolutely destroy the lesser competition.

2. Kansas City Chiefs 4-1 (LW: 1)

Let’s all hope Patrick Mahomes’ ankle injury is nothing serious.

3. New Orleans Saints 4-1 (LW: 3)

Could this 3-0 stretch pave the way for Teddy Bridgewater to remain in the Bayou?

4. San Francisco 49ers 4-0 (LW: 5)

12 MORE GAMES JIMMY GAROPPOLO, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

5. Green Bay Packers 4-1 (LW: 10)

When Aaron Rodgers plays within the system and offensive philosophy this team has not lost a game.

6. Buffalo Bills 4-1 (LW: 7)

A huge win for Buffalo as they remain right behind the New England Patriots in the AFC East.

7. Detroit Lions 2-1-1 (LW: 9)

If Detroit can take down Aaron Rodgers on Monday Night Football they’ll finally get the recognition they deserve.

8. Seattle Seahawks 4-1 (LW: 13)

Although a missed field goal for them this group embodies everything Pete Carroll believes in.

9. Philadelphia Eagles 3-2 (LW: 12)

The Eagles are right back in the thick of things in the NFC East.

10. Dallas Cowboys 3-2 (LW: 6)

This team could really use a bounce-back game and thankfully they travel East to face the Jets.

11. Indianapolis Colts 3-2 (LW: 20)

Nobody outside of Indiana could’ve predicted what the Colts pulled off on Sunday night last week.

12. Los Angeles Rams 3-2 (LW: 8)

Back-to-back losses have the Rams currently sitting in THIRD PLACE in their division.

13. Minnesota Vikings 3-2 (LW: 16)

For one week, the passing game came to life for Kirk Cousins and Minnesota.

14. Baltimore Ravens 3-2 (LW: 14)

Lamar Jackson is no longer an MVP lock and the defense has disappeared.

15. Oakland Raiders 3-2 (LW: 24)

Jon Gruden got the last laugh in London.

16. Houston Texans 3-2 (LW: 18)

Deshaun Watson post-game press conferences are becoming a “thing” aren’t they?

17. Chicago Bears 3-2 (LW: 4)

Their overseas trip looked more like a vacation as the Raiders pounced on them early before holding on to a win.

18. Cleveland Browns 2-3  (LW: 11)

During primetime games the Browns are 0-2, maybe they should petition the league to take them off the TV more often.

19. Los Angeles Chargers 2-3 (LW: 21)

Seven starters are out due to injury, the fact that they’re only a game out of first in the AFC West is shocking.

20. Carolina Panthers 3-2 (LW: 17)

As long as Christian McCaffrey is on the field this team has a chance to something.

21. Jacksonville Jaguars 2-3 (LW: 19)

#MinshewMagic wasn’t enough to steal a victory in Carolina.

22. New York Giants 2-3 (LW: 22)

The Daniel Jones hype train has certainly slowed down over the last few weeks.

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2-3 (LW: 22)

Chris Godwin is a M O N S T E R.

24. Tennessee Titans 2-3 (LW: 23)

This team is STILL confusing.

25. Arizona Cardinals 1-3-1 (LW: 27)

Kyler and Kliff finally got their first win.

26. Denver Broncos 1-4 (LW: 28)

VIC FANGIO FINALLY DID IT!!!!

This team needs to get its act together and FAST.

29. New York Jets 0-4 (LW: 29)

Sam. Darnold. Is. Back.

30. Washington Redskins 0-5 (LW: 30)

Jay Gruden is gone (YAY!) but Daniel Snyder and Bruce Allen remain (NAY!).

31. Cincinnati Bengals 0-5 (LW: 31)

SALE: EVERYTHING MUST GO! (except A.J. Green I guess).

32. Miami Dolphins 0-4 (LW: 32)

On Sunday we’ll see: TANK BOWL I – Miami versus Washington.
