The Charlotte Hornets End Minnesota’s Five Game Winning Streak (110-108)

The Charlotte Hornets End Minnesota’s Five Game Winning Streak (110-108)

Featured

The Minnesota Timberwolves came into this game on a 5 game-winning streak. The Hornets were without some of their key players Hayward, Ball, and Martin. It was the Timberwolves that came out excelling at all phases of the game in this one as Anthony Edwards led the way. Early in the game, it seemed as though Edwards was on pace for a huge night as he started out with 12 points and was getting to the basket with ease. Edwards was also opening things up as the Hornets had no answer for him with McDaniels and Oubre trying to stop him. The Hornets did make the proper adjustments as the game went on as they were able to double-team Anthony Edwards and make it tough on the young star. Anthony Edwards finished the game with 25 points to lead the Timberwolves in scoring but it was a little too late when he got it going again in that second half. Towns/Gobert finished with a combined 36 points, 6 assists, and 21 rebounds for the game as the twin towers were dominant.

The only thing that really caused the Timberwolves to lose this game overall was the turnovers (16) as they were in costly moments of the game. Every time the Timberwolves turned the ball over it seemed like it started a fast break for the Hornets where they were able to get something with the Timberwolves backpedaling back on defense. The other reason why the Timberwolves dropped this one to the Hornets was the rushed shots and lack of makes from the 3-point line tonight. The Timberwolves shot 9/41 from 3-point land and they lived by the 3 and died by the 3 tonight. We would be talking about something totally different if the Timberwolves even hit half of those 3 pointers but that’s how the game works. Towns and McDaniels struggled on the perimeter tonight with their shots but this won’t happen on a daily as the Timberwolves will bounce back.

The Hornets made it tough on the Timberwolves when it came to hustling plays and making some great plays rebounding the ball in the late stretch of the game. It was because of the scoring ability of Kelly Oubre Jr. that the Hornets won this game. Oubre Jr made some tough shots that were well contested by McDaniels and Edwards that you just had to tip your hat to him. On the night Kelly Oubre Jr finished with 28 points, 2 assists, and 6 rebounds as he was the catalyst for the win and helped put a stop to the Timberwolves’ winning streak. James Bouknight and Jalen McDaniels had made some great plays on both the offensive and defensive end as well to keep them in the game. Terry Rozier wasn’t his usual self, especially with Russell guarding him but was able to get some huge buckets in that 2nd half. Kai Jones was another player that made it tough on the Timberwolves with his hustle, grit, and hops. Jones was all over the place and was dunking left and right on the defense. Minnesota has a date with the defending champs the Golden State Warriors on Sunday and will be looking to get back in the winning column ASAP at home.

The Timberwolves Defeat Indiana For Their 5th Win In A Row (115-101)

The Timberwolves Defeat Indiana For Their 5th Win In A Row (115-101)

Featured

Don’t look now but the Minnesota Timberwolves are on a winning streak and have been clicking on every level. Tonight against the Indiana Pacers the Timberwolves made it an actual point to attack the paint in this one. Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns set the tone for Minnesota in the paint. The Pacers big Myles Turner had a great night offensively hitting 7 3-pointers but it’s tough doing that much offensively and then turning around to defend. The Towers of Power in Minnesota finished with 44 points, 10 assists, and 27 rebounds combined. If the Timberwolves bigs play like this on a nightly basis they would be unstoppable. This was the most complete game for the Timberwolves as they were able to establish themselves in the paint.

KAT and Gobert dominated the boards and were able to defend at a high level. The only player that got off for the Pacers was Turner but that was outside the paint. Anthony Edwards had 19 points, 2 assists, and 7 rebounds tonight. When Edwards has his game going like he did tonight it helps but it was great to see his game mesh with the bigs. Edwards was able to create different ways to score and to get his teammates involved especially on fast breaks. The other starter that put in work was D’Angelo Russell as he was able to get his teammates involved in the passing game against the Pacers. D-Lo went for 15 points and 12 assists in a well-balanced game. The Pacers didn’t know how to stop the pick and roll and they couldn’t stop the lob.

Russell has been the battery to this Timberwolves car and he’s been able to get his players in a position to win their matchups. Overall this offense has been rolling as they now have 5 straight wins on the season and have the longest winning streak in the NBA. Jaden McDaniels has been special and he showed it on the defensive end with 4 blocks. McDaniels also poured in 18 points and he’s improved on his shooting big time. This team is clicking on all cylinders and they will be looking to make it 6 straight wins against the Charlotte Hornets on Black Friday.

The Timberwolves Beat Miami (105-101) To Extend Their Winning Streak

The Timberwolves Beat Miami (105-101) To Extend Their Winning Streak

Featured

The Minnesota Timberwolves came into this game against the Miami Heat on a current 3-game winning streak. It was a game without Jimmy Butler/Tyler Herro but the Heat did have Kyle/Bam tonight. The Timberwolves were without Kyle Anderson as well who’s been a key piece to this puzzle. In the game, Karl-Anthony Towns came into this one setting the tone scoring basically at will against the Heat. Miami was trying to play small ball and KAT made them pay for it as he was yelling at defenders “And-1” after every made basket. You can see how Karl-Anthony felt disrespected as the Heat were trying to put players on him that were shorter than 6″8 and even had Kyle Lowry on him at one point. The Timberwolves and Towns made them pay big time as the best big man shooter in the NBA finished with 25 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds. It was a near perfect type of game for Towns as he almost had a triple-double. It seemed like every time the Timberwolves needed a bucket they went to the big man and he delivered in a monster way. Karl-Anthony Towns did foul out of the game in the 4th and that’s when Anthony Edwards showed up.

Edwards had struggled early in the game but got it going in the second half. One thing about Edwards that gets overshadowed is his defensive energy. Edwards had a sequence where he had a chase down block on Strus and then turned around down the other end and hit a step back 3 pointer. When Edwards is in this type of zone and locked in on both ends of the floor it will be a long night and Miami found out quickly. Anthony finished with 22 points, 4 assists, and 7 rebounds on the night as he came in big time in the clutch when the Timberwolves needed him. Rudy Gobert had the most important points of the night and it came on 4 late clutch free throws that clinched the game for the Timberwolves. Gobert didn’t attempt a field goal tonight but that didn’t matter too much because his defensive presence always shows up.

Jordan McLaughlin chipped in with a huge 12 points in this game as he had a stretch where he knocked down back to back 3 pointers that had the Target Center going crazy. Every night this Wolves team gets someone to contribute and this has become one of the deepest teams in the NBA right before our eyes. Jaden McDaniels has been able to flourish as well with his scoring as he finished with 18 points on the night. When the Timberwolves got it going like this on a nightly basis they will be a tough team to beat in the NBA. The Timberwolves will be heading to Indiana as they try to make it 5 games in a row on this winning streak.

The Minnesota Timberwolves Hold On To Beat The Philadelphia 76ers (112-109)

The Minnesota Timberwolves Hold On To Beat The Philadelphia 76ers (112-109)

Featured

The Timberwolves came into this game on a 2 game winning streak after their win against the Magic. Tonight the Timberwolves needed 3 in a row but more importantly, they needed to get back to a .500 winning percentage. This was one of those trap games and the Timberwolves almost fell for it. The 76ers were without Maxey, Harris, and Harden in this matchup leaving Joel Embiid who’s been on a crazy run right now to do the heavy lifting. The Timberwolves were up by double digits most of the game and the highest they were up tonight was 20. The Timberwolves offense has improved game by game and we are now getting a close look at how the bigs will mesh. The 76ers had no answer for the Timberwolves penetration and lobs to Rudy Gobert throughout this game and it was clear that Minnesota was attacking the paint on purpose tonight.

Minnesota had a 48 to the 36-point differential in the paint and they even got Joel Embiid in a little foul trouble. If Anthony Edwards continues to play with this type of confidence this Wolves team will be tough to beat in the regular season and postseason. Anthony Edwards finished tonight’s game with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Tonight Edwards put the team on his back especially late in the game when Philly got it down to 3 points. The team believes in his growth and they know when Edwards makes plays for them down the stretch that it will be effective most likely for good.

The Philadelphia 76ers had no answer for Anthony Edwards as he was carving them up in the transition and just getting to the basket with ease. When Ant-Man is locked in like this it will be a long night for anyone that’s defending him. The 76ers put multiple defenders on Edwards but it didn’t matter as he had it going tonight. Anthony made the play of the night when the 76ers were down and had a chance to take the lead he had an insane chase-down block against Melton that saved the game. That play right there shows how badly Edwards wants to win and what he’s willing to do to make sure that happens.

D’Angelo Russel and Karl-Anthony Towns had good games tonight and were able to play off the success of Edwards. Towns still showcased why he’s one of the best shooting big men in the NBA and Russell showcased his tough shot-making and his ability to find his teammates in the right spot. The Timberwolves were able to hold Embiid to only 32 points, 6 assists, and 9 rebounds which is a success after the week he’s been going for 40+ every night. The Timberwolves made sure Embiid wasn’t going to beat them as Milton stepped up big time but the 76ers definitely showed they’re missing those players that were out. The Timberwolves head back home to play the Miami Heat on Monday as they look to keep this winning streak alive.

Edward’s Magical Scoring Night Helps Minnesota Defeat Orlando (126-108)

Edward’s Magical Scoring Night Helps Minnesota Defeat Orlando (126-108)

Featured

Tonight the Minnesota Timberwolves picked up right where they left off against the Cavaliers. This team looked like they truly made a huge step with chemistry as a unit. The Orlando Magic didn’t know what hit them as it came quickly and it started with Anthony Edwards. Throughout the season we have seen Edwards have his ups and downs but as of late, he’s starting to get things going offensively. The Magic had no answer for Edwards tonight as he was able to get his game going inside and outside. The Magic threw Ross, Suggs, and multiple players at him and it didn’t matter. Anthony Edwards was able to set the tone with his jumper and his energy for the Timberwolves. On the night Edwards finished this game with 35 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds. When Edwards has his offense going like he did tonight the Timberwolves are honestly unstoppable. Edwards showed that he’s been working on his game and he continues to elevate to that elite level. Tonight he shot 12/20 from the field tonight and his game opened up things for his big man Karl-Anthony Towns.

It was a season-high for Karl-Anthony Towns who finished the game with 30 points against the Magic. No one on the Magic had an answer for KAT as he was able to score as he pleased. When Karl-Anthony’s playing inside and out like he did tonight it will be easy every night. KAT made it tough on Bol Bol and the other bigs for the Magic tonight. Karl-Anthony has worked on his post moves in the paint and he showed that and more tonight. This Wolves team has 4 to 5 players that can truly get it going on a nightly basis. No NBA team can say they have that many options and Coach Finch has so many lineups he can use. From Gobert, Towns, Edwards, Russell, and McDaniels any of them can have a great night. If you have more than one of them going off it will be a long night for any opposing defense.

The Orlando Magic made a push in the second half and got within 9 points after trailing by 27 points. The Timberwolves went to work in the fast break tonight with 30 points and didn’t let them set their defense. The Timberwolves will be looking to get 3 wins in a row as they go to Philly on Saturday to take on Joel Embiid and the 76ers. Look for the Timberwolves to come out aggressive in this one as the twin towers will finally get to meet with an opposing big that’s just as elite as them.

Russell’s 30 Point Performance Propels Wolves To Victory Over Cavs (129-124)

Russell’s 30 Point Performance Propels Wolves To Victory Over Cavs (129-124)

Featured

It was a beautiful sight to see for any Minnesota Timberwolves fan tonight. This was the first complete game as a unit everyone had it all going tonight. The tone was set by D’Angelo Russell “Mr.Ice In His Veins” as he came out aggressive. Tonight was the perfect example of what Russell can be for this team on a nightly basis. Russell came out getting his teammates involved with his high IQ passing against the Cavs. Some of the plays Russell made tonight to get his teammates easy buckets should be able to transfer over chemistry-wise. Now let’s get to his offense because Russell was lights out tonight. No one on the Cavs could stop #0 as he was on fire tonight. In this game, D’Angelo Russell finished with 30 points on 11/13 attempts and 12 assists. This was the best way to get out of a mini-shooting slump and that’s exactly what Russell did tonight was shut the haters up. When Russell plays like this it opens up so many things for this Timberwolves offense.

Karl-Anthony Towns shot 11/16 from the field against the Cavs and made them pay every chance he got. Big KAT finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds as he was as dominant as we have seen all season. The Cavs put Mobley/Love on Karl-Anthony but it didn’t matter because he was able to take advantage inside and outside. When Towns plays like this then anything is possible with this team and the Cavs found that out tonight. Towns counterpart Rudy Gobert was able to get another double-double tonight as he finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Gobert was doing exactly what Minnesota fans expected him to do tonight. That was to dominate in the paint with rebounds and to get those inside points. Gobert made a huge contribution on the defensive end and his presence was felt all night.

The Cavaliers came out with some fire in the 2nd half as they got the game closer than Minnesota expected. The Timberwolves were up by 24 points in this game and the Cavs got it all the way down to 2 points. The reason for that comeback was simply Darius Garland. In the 2nd half, Garland looked like a whole new player and it was crazy to see him hitting everything he put up almost. On the night without Donovan Mitchell in the lineup, Garland put up a career-high 51 points as the Cavs just couldn’t get it done late down the stretch. The Timberwolves will be heading to Orlando next as they look to stack up some wins on the road.
