Each week, SneakerReporter will put out their power rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

With Week 7 kicking off tonight (Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos, 8:20 PM EST on Fox and NFL Network) it’s time to unveil where each team sits.

The fun begins below and be sure to check back each Thursday to track how far up or down your favorite team moves from week-to-week.

1. New England Patriots 6-0 (LW: 1)

The depth (and talent) at wide receiver is diminishing and injuries are depleting the offensive line too but this defense is insanely dominant.

 

2. New Orleans Saints 5-1 (LW: 3)

As long as Alvin Kamara’s injury isn’t serious this four-game win streak should continue.

 

3. San Francisco 49ers 5-0 (LW: 5)

Sometimes the pressures of life can be unbearable, those who don’t have money believe the only way to be happy is to have it. In the words of Rap Legend Biggie Smalls “Mo’Money, Mo’ problems,” recently it has occurred to me that rappers are more focused on creating a space to improve their mental health the longer there in the game and Big Sean is no different.

Sean, who recently released more details about his upcoming fifth studio album, which includes appearances from Post Malone, A$AP Rocky, Meek Mills, and Diddy to name a few. Spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his life during the two-year hiatus, his new project, and a story of how his mother believes in holistic medicine may have saved his life. 

“I took some time to work on myself and I was able to have a good therapist, good mentors,”said Big Sean “I truly feel like it’ll really shine through on the full album.”

Came back full force dropping new song “Single Again” as well as a visual. Big Sean has decided to peel back the curtain and allow fans a more personal experience through his music. Feeling it is necessary to express these certain things in his life he had revealed through his music before. On track entitled ‘Wolves,’ featuring an appearance from Post Malone and A$AP Rocky is a tribute to Sean’s family.

“[That song is about] my family growing up,” Sean tells Entertainment Weekly. “Everybody’s in there, my grandma, my mom, my brother — it’s like they were a pack of wolves and they were the sweetest and strongest. It’s one of my favorites on the album.”

In track “Lucky Me,” He addresses the scary moment in his life being diagnosed with heart disease at the age of 19. 

“I couldn’t even walk from one side of the room to the other without getting super-tired,” he tells EW. “I passed out once in the shower and got rushed to the emergency room.”

At this time he was just beginning to release music after signing to Kanye West’s GOOD Music, but Sean’s health issues left him facing a potentially costly and risky surgical procedure. He credited his mother’s holistic view of medicine as a cure. He raps, “Lucky me, I was diagnosed with a heart disease at 19/ Doctors said they had to cut it open put a pacemaker on it to put it back on beat/ ’Til my mother took me to holistic doctors and they prescribed me magnesium for two weeks/ Went back to the regular doctors and they said, ‘Huh? damn, looks like we don’t need to proceed.”

When it comes to artists with longevity in their careers it is amazing to see them evolve, as they experience different events in life their music should reflect that and personal reflection plays a major role in this project and Big Sean hopes it brings fans some measure of self-fulfillment.

The Thunder tried to redeem themselves after the loss on Monday night in Dallas. You can tell that the Thunder were playing with different energy at home against the Memphis Grizzlies in the beginning. Both teams were missing key pieces to their offense and defense, for example, Ja Morant, and Chris Paul didn’t play tonight. The OKC Thunder leaned on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Steven Adams for the majority of the game to set the tone offensively but came up short. Steven Adams has impressed all preseason and looks ready for a monster year in his stats. The Big Kiwi finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds on the night as he was able to dominate in the paint. Steven has worked on his post moves and this offseason he’s added the 3 point shot to his arsenal. Steven Adams has been a true leader and has let his game speak for itself as he faced off against Jaren Jackson Jr tonight. You could see the size difference but Steven was quick on his feet and made it hard on the second-year player. The pace that Steven Adams has been playing at this preseason he should easily be in the conversation for MIP with a 20-10 campaign in 2019-2020 season.

 

Shai Gilgeous Alexander has been able to take advantage of his opportunity as he’s been incredible this preseason. When the Thunder brought him in we knew a little bit of what he brought to the table but this preseason he was showing out. Shai has shown that he can lead and that he can create his own shot with ease. The Memphis Grizzlies didn’t have the answer for Shai as he finished his preseason finale with 17 points. Memphis couldn’t contain Shai but they got the last laugh with the win in OKC.  Shai has been a special player to watch and he’s blended right in with the players from last year. The way that Shai attacks the basket is impressive and he does it with finesse. Shai has that old school layup package in NBA2K and he makes it look cool. One thing that he was able to do tonight against the Grizzlies was to use his defense to start fast breaks for his teammates. It’s only Shai’s second year in the NBA and he gets to the free-throw line like a veteran and plays basketball the Thunder way. It would have been cool to see Ja Morant vs Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tonight but we will have to save the popcorn for the regular-season matchups.

 

This team has been clicking on all levels so far and the ball movement has been there every game. The Thunder is moving the ball and it’s flowing without anyone knowing he the plays run for on offense. The last couple of games Danilo Gallinari has been in a great shooting groove and that continued tonight against the Grizzlies. In the game tonight Gallinari had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Gallinari is that sharpshooter that the Thunder has been needing and his ability to knock down shots has been a true addition to this team. One play that stood out tonight was a drive-by Darius Bazley where he was able to wrap the ball around a defender to find the open Gallinari for the 3 pointer. The Thunder made some good plays as a whole tonight but just couldn’t defend Dillon Brooks and get the second-chance points in the paint tonight. Darius played a great overall game tonight as he’s like the swiss army knife of the team. Anything you ask Bazley to do he gets it done. He showed a lot of versatility tonight as he finished with 7 points, 6 assists, and 9 rebounds in 30 minutes.

 

 

Memphis has a lot of players that can make an impact on their team. Jaren Jackson Jr. stood out tonight in his matchup against Steven Adams. Jackson Jr added a 3 point shot to his game and has some amazing footwork in the paint. Jackson Jr. finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds on the night for the Grizzlies and showed that he can defend at a high level. The Grizzlies are built for the future with Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant. Another player that made a huge impact on the game for the Grizzlies and should take that step in his career is Dillon Brooks. Tonight Brooks finished with 30 points and showed the ability to score off the dribble and attack the basket aggressively. If the Grizzlies can use some of this raw and young talent and mixed it with some veterans like Jae Crowder and Andre Iguodala this could be an interesting team to watch on the year.

 

 

The Thunder has a lot of potential and this team can definitely gel together with Chris Paul in the mix as well. We still haven’t been able to see how this team can be a full unit. The one player that Thunder fans are waiting to see is Andre Roberson as he’s recovering from his injury. The Thunder didn’t need him in the preseason but they will need him heading into the regular season moving forward.

Chris Paul, or “CP3”, has been taking the NBA by storm for the better part of a decade. Throughout his time in the league he has been seen as one of the top-tier point guards while playing with a hard-nose mentality every opponent and teammate has come to expect. CP3 is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, NBA Rookie of the Year (2006), 9x NBA All-Defensive Team, 8x All-NBA Team, and 9x NBA All-Star. With all of these accolades and achievements, Chris Paul has been doing it relatively under the radar in his own signature shoes.

Out of college, Chris Paul was the fourth overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft and originally signed a four-year, $600,000 a year deal with Nike. I mean who could forget Chris Paul being a part of Nike’s now famous “Second Coming” commercial from 2007? Paul eventually gravitated towards the Jordan Brand division under Nike, as Michael Jordan hand-picks his brand endorsers himself. Fast forward to 2019 and Chris Paul is releasing his 12th signature shoe with Jordan Brand, yes you read that right, his TWELFTH signature sneaker.

 

 

Jordan Brand and Chris Paul have been releasing iterations for the All-Star PG every year since 2008. His shoes fit the bill for fast, athletic point guards, who change direction quickly. Premier Jordan Brand schools like North Carolina, Marquette, Georgetown, Florida, Oklahoma, and California (before they switched to Under Armour) all get outfitted with CP3’s every season. Of course Chris Paul’s former school, Wake Forest, gets special Jordan Brand CP3 sneakers, even though they’re a Nike school.

 

     

Chris Paul is second only to Carmelo Anthony, in number of signature shoes under the Jordan Brand wing. Paul currently sits at 12 while Anthony and JB decided to halt their signature sneaker line after 13 models. Russell Westbrook is the only other current Jordan Brand signature sneaker athlete. It’s hard having a shoe do high numbers these days in the market when you’re competing with the likes of the Nike Lebron, KD, Kyrie, Kobe, and Paul George lines, Adidas Harden and Lillard shoes, as well as Steph Curry’s Under Armour series. Putting that aside, it is a major feat to have a signature sneaker line last as long as Chris Paul’s has.

CP has a new home this season with the Oklahoma City Thunder and will look to remain on the top shelf of NBA point guards while wearing his Jordan CP3.XII. Fan-favorites from Paul’s shoe line when it comes to both looks and on-court performance are the CP3.VI and CP3.VII respectively. In fact, Chris Paul’s signature sneakers have even graced NikeiD.com for complete personalization options. Five models in the line have also featured “AE” models to release after the initial launch run. These “AE” CP3’s are basically a takedown version of that year’s signature shoe and feature lighter weight materials and mesh for more ventilation. His new 12th model looks to be a hit as Paul has already been seen rocking a few eye-catching colorways. Now we all know this little story all about how Will Smith became ‘The Fresh Prince’ it a ballad that no one will forget. A series that is licensed to air in 193 territories. Well according to recent reports ‘The Fresh Prince’ is back. 

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Will Smith’s entertainment company Westbrook Inc. is developing a spinoff of the popular ’90s sitcom series.

Westbrook Inc. is a cross-platform company Will and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith run launched back in July, “designed to expand the Smith family brand beyond film and TV into new media, technology, and even merchandising.”

The corporation has been busy cooking up the recently announced Bel-air Athletics clothing line, featuring homages to the first few seasons which was spent at Bel-air prep. One of the track jackets has a funky design meant to be reversible, reminisced of how Will wore his uniform jacket to be an individual.

The rumor of a reboot or sequel have run rampant since 2015, the thoughts of a sequel would star son Jaden Smith. Jaden’s character would be the son of the Fresh Prince but would go from riches to rags in a sense moving from Bel-air to West Philly to stay with his cousin and learn the value of hard work. Now that a story Netflix can get behind. It was reported that Smith was shopping a remake of the classic ’90s sitcom for modern times. 

Currently, there’s a trailer of this exact idea entitled “Bel-Air” on YouTube created by Morgan Cooper, starring Jerry Madison as Will Smith. The trailer was so good it even caught the attention on ‘The Fresh Prince’ himself.

“I had no idea that ‘Fresh Prince’ would have that kind of impact,” Smith said during a 2018 interview, on TIDAL’s Rap Radar podcast. “When I look back on it, I can see. It was like, ‘Duh.’ The intercultural racism between the rich blacks and poor blacks and the idea of being uprooted and put into the full mainstream white world, I can see where those ideas would make for a rich show.”

With no further details on the show, we can only speculate on the direction the spin-off/sequel will take. But we know for certain episode one will pay homage to James Avery aka Uncle Phil, because as J. Cole put it “First things first: rest in peace Uncle Phil, For real, you the only father that I ever knew.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news that disgruntled defensive back Jalen Ramsey will no longer be a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars:

In a blockbuster deal that was weeks in the making, the Los Angeles Rams have acquired All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Rams paid a hefty price for him (2020 and 2021 first-round picks and a 2021 fourth-round pick) but at 24 years old and with a contract that runs through next season he was well worth it.

Many were wondering why the Los Angels Rams choose to ship out cornerback Marcus Peters earlier today and now we have our answer. Los Angeles went from losing their top two corners—Aquib Talib was put on the IR—to adding one of the premier shutdown cornerbacks in the NFL.

There were reports that a “heart-to-heart” conversation with Jaguars owner Shad Khan might have led to Ramsey returning to the field in Jacksonville this year but that did not turn out to be the case.

Word is the back issues that Ramsey and the team have cited as the reasoning that he was not playing should not keep him off the field with his new team.

Los Angeles is no stranger to going “all-in”, last season they made a move in-season for Dante Fowler—another former Jaguars stud defender—and spent big money on Ndamukong Suh in free agency. Those moves helped the team make a run to the Super Bowl last year. After losing three straight games for the first time under Sean McVay the team is hoping that this latest addition will help right the ship.
