BREAKING NEWS: Michael Bennett Traded to the Dallas Cowboys

Featured

The New England Patriots aren’t done wheeling and dealing yet. After bringing in Mohamed Sanu and sending Josh Gordon to the IR (and he’ll likely be waived when he’s healthy again), they just let defensive end Michael Bennett go after he requested to be let go due to his dissatisfaction with his role in the Patriots defense. Bennett was sent to the Dallas Cowboys for a seventh-round pick that could potentially become a sixth-round pick in 2021 depending on the defensive end’s play.

Bennett was acquired by New England this offseason and many assumed he would be trying to fill the role that was vacated by Trey Flowers–who signed with the Detroit Lions in free agency this offseason. However, thanks to the play and versatility of the Patriots’ linebackers the team has been playing with less down linemen, oftentimes aligning in a 2-4-5 formation.

His frustration boiled over a couple of weeks ago when he got into an argument with New England’s defensive line coach, Brett Bielema, which resulted in his suspension for Week 7.

When asked about his return to the team on Wednesday Bennett said, “I didn’t take away nothing. I got suspended. Lost money. What am I supposed to take away from that? There’s no love lost. It’s just how it is.”

One day later he’s on to a new team. Without him, New England managed to shutout the New York Jets on the road so they are unlikely to see a big decline from the league’s best defense. In Dallas, he gives the Cowboys another pass rusher to help shore up a rotation that features DeMarcus Lawrence and Robert Quinn who left last week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night with a rib injury.

Josh Gordon Unlikely to Finish Season With New England Patriots

Josh Gordon Unlikely to Finish Season With New England Patriots

Featured

During the New England Patriots Week 6 Thursday Night Football game against the New York Giants, wide receiver Josh Gordon went down awkwardly while trying to tackle a Giants defender on a fumble recovery. Gordon would miss the rest of that game and last week’s matchup against the New York Jets. Now, reports are that the Patriots are going to place him on IR.

With New England acquiring Mohamed Sanu for a second-round pick, and 2019 first-round pick N’Keal Harry designated to return by Week 9 at the earliest, Gordon’s time with the Patriots is likely over. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the team will waive him when he’s healthy. The issue is believed to be bone bruises in both knees.

However, the injuries aren’t new. The incident against the Giants re-aggravated the injury. Gordon believes that he should be healthy within a couple weeks.

If he can return to health Gordon could be a late-season addition for a team with an eye towards getting him fully integrated ahead of the 2020 season.

THE BATTLE FOR L.A. ROUND 1 GOES TO THE CLIPPERS, A NIGHT WHERE DEFENSE WAS THE KEY

THE BATTLE FOR L.A. ROUND 1 GOES TO THE CLIPPERS, A NIGHT WHERE DEFENSE WAS THE KEY

Featured

Opening nights game gave views the introducing we’ve been waiting months to see with the Lakers and Clippers alike making moves that could have lasting effects for each franchise. Even if it was a sample of the 82 games both teams will play, the new-look Clippers got the edge Tuesday night.

The reigning Finals MVP led the way with 30 points, in 32 minutes to bring the Clippers a statement win. Going into last night’s game without one half of their big two in Paul George, many expected the Lakers to take home the victory but with the tenacious defense of Patrick Beverly and co.

The narrative of a rivalry has been heavily discussed leading up to this opening night match, the Clippers have brushed aside any discussion of a competition between the two teams. As they say, actions do speak louder than words. Leonard  and New Balance came out with an ad that declared L.A. “his city.” Also, The “L.A. Our Way” banner that they unfurl above the arena signage outside spoke volumes.

“It’s the first game,” LeBron said. “The NBA is back, so everyone wants to have the narrative of a rivalry game and a huge test. Both teams are not who they want to be. … It’s not a rivalry.”

So what did we learn after last night’s game? Well, not much it’s just one game and both teams have to hammer something out. The Clippers looked as if they’ll be fine while waiting for Paul George to come back, who’s recovering from shoulder injuries.

The Lakers, on the other hand, need to find a starting point guard fast. Lebron James did run the offense from the point guard position. The offense was stagnant at points of the game where James would dribble, dribble, dribble, then kick out to a shooter or throw the ball to Anthony Davis on the elbow and in the post. James did look a little rusty with 18 points on 7/19 shooting, mind you that James didn’t partake in the preseason. in the words of TNT analysis Reggie Miller, give James about 10 games to knock off the rust. The addition of Danny Green was a very valuable one as he led his team in scoring and without him, we may have a completely different game.

“We have a lot of room to improve,” LeBron James said. “We’re a new group that’s coming together. We have a new coaching staff. We have a new system.”

The Lakers could fix their offense within the next few games, as their chemistry builds, but there are two acquisitions the team could make to give themselves more firepower off the bench. Big Three MVP Joe Johnson and one of the greatest sixth man to play the game, Jamal Crawford. Joe Johnson has proven he’s more than capable of still playing at a good level and with his addition to the second unit while James is on the bench the amount of scoring wouldn’t take a major dip. The same could be said about Crawford who still has an elite handle and can get anywhere on the floor he pleases. It may not be ideal to fill your roster with aging stars but one or both of these players could bring value to the team.

The next time these two teams meet will be for their Christmas match up, it means the Lakers will have Kyle Kuzma back, while the Clippers get to take joy in the fact that they did this without Paul George. These teams could change a lot from now until Christmas and we may have an idea of where the Lakers and Clippers are headed.

Rick Ross and Dwyane Wade Release Two Budding Sneakers Thanks to Mutual Miami Connection

Rick Ross and Dwyane Wade Release Two Budding Sneakers Thanks to Mutual Miami Connection

Celebs

NBA legend and former Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade has recently collaborated with Rick Ross on a special release of two of his Way of Wade silhouettes. D-Wade’s loyalty to Miami is well-known and Rick Ross’ affinity for the same city can be seen throughout his music material and heard in his songs. Both individuals reside in Miami and teamed up for Li-Ning’s first-ever collaboration with a musical artist.

The Way of Wade 7, or “WoW 7”, is outfitted in a black/purple/gold/red color combination. This is the same model that D-Wade wore during his last season in the NBA. This WoW 7 also comes equipped with a removable crown that velcros onto the heel counter. When the crown is removed, “self made” can be seen written across the heel in red. The pull tabs say “Rick Ro$$” and Dwyane Wade’s Li-Ning ‘Way of Wade’ logo can be seen predominantly across the foot in red.

The second pair released from Li-Ning and the duo of “The Boss” and D-Wade is the Way of Wade Essence Ace II. This sneaker is definitely a lifestyle choice in contrasting with the more performance-based WoW 7. Dressed in an all red upper, this Essence Ace II combines breathable mesh as well as high quality tumbled leather. Li-Ning is well-known for using very high quality materials on their footwear, especially for the Way of Wade line. “Rick Ro$$” is written in black on the side of the midsoles in addition to some Chinese inscriptions as well. Gold lace tips and a red lace lock round out this pair’s details.

Both pairs released October 19th on Li-Ning’s Way of Wade website as well as The Edition Sneaker Boutique in Miami, FL. The Essence Ace II retails for $200 and the WoW 7 fetches a price of $300.
