Top 15 Kicks Worn During Week 3 of NBA Season

Top 15 Kicks Worn During Week 3 of NBA Season

Featured

It was a big week in the NBA in terms of sneakers. Kyrie Irving officially debuted his sixth signature sneaker with Nike, sporting the “Tokyo” colorway from the Pre-Heat pack. Donovan Mitchell continuously shows new color schemes of his Adidas D.O.N. Issue #1’s. Players today are not wearing Jordan retros on court as much as they were in the 2010’s, but are instead opting to sport Kobe Protros, older Lebron and Kobe models, as well as newer designs like the Nike PG line or Giannis’ Zoom Freak 1. This could be due to the fact that a lot of the younger players in the NBA today grew up watching Kobe and Lebron in the league, and not MJ. Therefore these players saw Kobe and Lebron wear their best silhouettes like the Kobe 4, 5, 6, 8 and the Lebron 4, 7, 8, 10 – and now they want to rock those classic shoes on the court as well.

P.J. Tucker has established himself as the #1 sneaker guy in the NBA when it comes to kicks on court. Who’s going to challenge him to try to knock him off? Players like Gary Harris (Nuggets) and Allonzo Trier (Knicks) are starting to make some noise in the sneaker scene and are slowly climbing up our Top 15 list every week. Look below to check out the Top 15 Kicks Worn During Week 3 of the NBA Season and see how many classic Nike basketball signature shoes you spot.

OKC Thunder Drop Close One To The Milwaukee Bucks (121-119)

OKC Thunder Drop Close One To The Milwaukee Bucks (121-119)

Featured

The Thunder came into this game knowing they would have their hands full with Giannis Antetokounmpo. What the Bucks didn’t know is that this Thunder team is very scrappy and play as a unit. The Thunder had 7 scorers in double figures tonight against the Bucks and were able to keep things close in this game. The man of the season for the Thunder has been Dennis Schröder because every time he comes into the game it’s instant offense/energy. Dennis Schröder has been able to lift this Thunder team up in moments when they need a boost. Schröder finished with 25 points tonight and should be in serious contention for 6th man of the year. When Dennis comes into the game he uses his slithery crossovers and floaters to keep the Thunder rolling. The Thunder were able to use their defense to create a lot of offense against the Bucks, especially in the first half. The Thunder shot 49% on the night and made some big shots when they needed too.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 22 points tonight against the Bucks. He’s been growing as a player throughout the young season every night. The Bucks tried to put Wesley Matthews on him to slow him down but it didn’t work at all. Shai has been able to create his own shot and create offense for other players on the team. Billy Donovan has used the “3 Point Guard” combination of (Chris Paul, Dennis Schröder, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander) and it’s worked out really well. The three might be undersized as a unit but when they play together on the court great things happen for the Thunder. Those three together have been able to carry the Thunder in many games and it happened tonight for the most part. They combined for 64 points tonight against the Bucks but it wasn’t enough even though they did get some help from others. The Thunder fans have been waiting for Mike Muscala and tonight he showed up in a big way. Mike had a lot of open looks and the playmakers on the Thunder have continued to show they believe in him. Mike Muscala finished with 12 points as he went 4/9 from the 3 point line. Late in the game, Danilo Gallinari hit a clutch shot to tie the game at 114 over Giannis but the Bucks replied with a 3 pointer from Brook Lopez. Gallinari has had the green light in OKC and he finished with 14 points tonight. If the Thunder had some shots fall late that they normally make this would have been a different outcome.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had his hands all over this game and was able to get every shot he wanted against the Thunder defense. It seemed as though Giannis was gliding to the basket on every euro-step as finished with power. The Thunder were throwing a lot of different looks at Giannis on the defensive side of the ball tonight. It was to the point that at the half Giannis ended up kicking a Thunder sign on the way into the locker room.

After the Thunder played great defense against Giannis he came out in the second half ready to attack especially with Khris Middleton going out with an injury. Giannis was making some plays that only he can as he put his MVP hands all over the game from there on out. Giannis finished the game with 35 points on the night and had some monster dunks to make a statement. Giannis was able to get some help from Eric Bledsoe who finished with 25 points and stepped up in the clutch when they lost Middleton. The Thunder were fighting all night and it came down to the wire but Brook Lopez’s 3 pointer was the dagger that won it for the Bucks. The Thunder will be playing the Pacers next on the road as they try to get back in the win column after this close loss tonight against a really good Bucks team.

Primetime Preview: Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys (SNF Week 10)

Primetime Preview: Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys (SNF Week 10)

Featured

Taking a trip to Jerry World for our Sunday Night Football match up as the 6-3 Vikings look to rebound from a defeat last week as they take on the 5-3 Cowboys. Vegas has the Cowboys as 3 point home favorites, with an over/under at 48. The Cowboys own a 3-1 home record this season while the Vikings are 2-3 on the road. The Cowboys hold the 16-14 series record including victories in their last two match ups(2013, 2016).

One of the biggest story lines in this game will be the battle of the running back. Both Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliott have been fantastic so far this season, and their teams offenses rely on them as the corner piece to their success. Dalvin Cook leads the NFL in rushing yards with 894 through his first 9 games. Zeke is not too far behind, sitting at 7th in the league with 741 with one less game played.

The Cowboys have had one of the league’s best offensive units so far in 2019, as they rank 1st in yards/game as well as being top 5 in passing and rushing. Their well balanced attack centered around running the ball with Ezekiel Elliott and chewing the clock is a nightmare for opposing defenses. Dallas’s defense has been nothing short of spectacular this season as well, ranking top 10 in all categories giving up only 17.8 points/game.

Minnesota is playing some good football as well. They suffered a tough loss in Kansas City last week, but Quarterback Kirk Cousins is playing some of the best football on his career. Cousins boasts an NFL best 127.1 Passer Rating over the last five games, and the Vikings have gone 4-1 over that span. Cousins is only 1-6 against the Cowboys in his career, and he isn’t known for stellar play in prime time games. The Cowboys should be able to move the ball against the struggling Minnesota defense, and the question of Kirk Cousins performance in big games will certainly be tested. The Cowboys will force just enough mistakes to secure a victory at home this Sunday Night.

Prediction: Cowboys 27, Vikings 24

1:00 PM EST

New York Giants at New York Jets

The clash of New York tips off our 1:00 PM EST kickoffs as two struggling organizations look to bounce back from a loss.  The Jets suffered a defeat to the winless Dolphins last week in Miami while the Giants were no match for the Cowboys on Monday Night. With two bottom tier defenses units, Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones are primed to show why they were selected with the 1st and 6th overall picks in the last two drafts. The Jets took the victory in the last meeting of New York back in 2015, but both rosters are night and day compared to four years ago. This game is a toss up and could go either way. With the Jets trending downward quickly, the Giants should squeak out a victory here.

Prediction: Giants 24, Jets 20

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

The Atlanta Falcons might be the biggest disappointment of the 2019 season thus far. Sitting at the bottom of the NFC South at 1-7, they would need to win out to have any chance at a wild card spot. Unfortunately for them, this won’t be the week of their turnaround. One good sign for the Falcons is that Matt Ryan will be returning to action after being sidelined for a week, but the Saints have been one of the best rosters on both sides of the ball this year. With Brees and Kamara back in the Superdome, the Saints will take care of business at home.

Prediction: Saints 31, Falcons 24

Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans

This game is headlined by the return of the 2018 NFL MVP. After dislocating his kneecap in the week 7 game vs. Denver, Mahomes is ready to step back on the field just three weeks later. This game will be no easy task though, as the Titans have a top 10 scoring defense. Tennessee is limited on the offensive end and the Chiefs are playing their best defensive football all year. The return of Mahomes is a dangerous sight for the whole league, and the Titans will be the first to witness it.

Prediction: Chiefs 35, Titans 20

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens are flying high coming off of an impressive beatdown of the New England Patriots. With Lamar Jackson playing at an MVP level, the Bengals are in for a long day. As the last winless team remaining, rookie Head Coach Zac Taylor thought it was time to make a switch at QB. Rookie Ryan Finley will make his first start, and although the Ravens aren’t what they used to be on defense, they will likely be playing with the lead as Lamar and the run game will control the clock, keeping the Bengals defense on the field.

Prediction: Ravens 30, Bengals 14

Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns

Besides the Atlanta Falcons, the Cleveland Browns might be the most underachieving team in 2019. With a boatload of talent on both sides of the ball, the Browns were crowning themselves division champions before the season even started. Their lack of success, however, can’t be boiled down to just one thing or person. Freddy Kitchens has been outcoached, Baker has been outperformed, their offensive line has been suspect and their defense has been riddled with injuries. On the other hand, Sean McDermott has the Bills playing their game at an exceptional level. They run the ball with their change of pace backs, Josh Allen extends plays with his feet, and they control time of possession. The old school recipe can still work in the new school game.

Prediction: Bills 20, Browns 17

Arizona Cardinals at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Arizona Cardinals have been a pleasant surprise this season, and their performance has been better than their 3-5-1 record would indicate. They have stayed competitive against some very talented teams and the whole Kliff and Kyler experiment has been a huge step in the right direction. The Bucs have showed some signs of potential as well, as Bruce Arians and Jameis Winston are still working on their chemistry. The inconsistency has killed them, as week to week you really never know what you are going to get from them. This will be a close game from start to finish and should end up being much more exciting than you would think.

Prediction: Cardinals 28, Bucs 24

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

The Bears were absolutely disappointing last week in Philadelphia. Against one of the worst secondaries in the entire league, Mitch Trubisky put up a measly 125 yards on less than 50% passing. Matt Nagy and the coaching staff should seriously consider playing Chase Daniels, as Trubisky has thrown for a TD in only 2 of his 7 games this season. The Bears’ defense has been struggling recently as well, as they have allowed 25 points/game and 350 yards/game over the last 4 weeks, a stark difference from the first four. Matthew Stafford is considered questionable with a hip/back injury but we expect him to toughen it out like usual.

Prediction: Lions 23, Bears 17

4:05 PM EST

Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts

After defeating the Jets last week, Ryan Fitzpatrick and company look to keep the momentum rolling as they head to Indy for a matchup with the Colts. The Colts will be without starter Jacoby Brisset as he went down with a leg injury last week in Pittsburgh. Backup Brian Hoyer stepped in nicely, and although they lost on a last second Adam Vinatieri field goal miss, the Colts should feel comfortable throwing Hoyer on the field. The Colts are 3-1 at home on the year and the Dolphins just lost their best WR Preston Williams for the year with a knee injury.

Prediction: Colts 27, Dolphins 17

4:25 PM EST

Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers

The Panthers taking a trip to Lambeau Field sets up one of the best games of the day. Christian McCafrey is on a historical run right now, and his numbers almost rival LaDainian Tomlinson’s 2006 season. The Packers rank 24th in the league in stopping the run, so CMC may be in for another field day. Green Bay needs to create pressure on Kyle Allen and get off the field on 3rd down. Aaron Rodgers is coming off of a subpar performance in their loss to the Chargers, so you know he will be ready to roll.

Prediction: Packers 30, Panthers 24

Los Angeles Rams at Pittsburgh Steelers

The last afternoon kickoff of the week is a showdown in Pittsburgh as the underrated Steelers team looks to take down the visiting Rams. The Rams are fresh off their Bye week looking to keep pace with the loaded NFC West division. The Steelers offense has been pretty lackluster, and it seems like they will be without starting running back James Conner this week. Their defense has been better than average, but it won’t be able to hold down this Rams attack off a week of rest and game planning.

Prediction: Rams 24, Steelers 17

Thunder Hang On To Defeat The Warriors 114-108 As They Improve To (4-5) On The Season

Thunder Hang On To Defeat The Warriors 114-108 As They Improve To (4-5) On The Season

Featured

The Oklahoma City Thunder came out clicking on all levels against the Golden State Warriors. They recently played each other within the last couple of weeks but this time it was different. The Warriors were without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green as both are nursing injuries. The Thunder have finally found their stride as a unit and have been playing some of the best basketball they’ve played in the early season. The Warriors had no answer for the 3 point ball tonight against the Thunder as they shot 14/30 from the 3 point line. The Thunder ball movement has been a thing of beauty all season long and they capitalized on the Warriors mistakes. The Thunder had a well-balanced attack from the start and didn’t look back. This was a game where the Thunder didn’t have much scoring power from Shai Gilegous-Alexander and Chris Paul but the others stepped up. Shai finished with 12 points on the night and Chris Paul finished with 16 points. The leading scorer for tonight was Danilo Gallinari who finished with 21 points.  Whenever Gallinari gets the ball he’s going to look for that 3 point line and he did just that tonight. The fact that Gallinari is such a threat behind the 3 point line it helps the rest of the team in spacing.

The Thunder had 5 players in double figures tonight against the Warriors which shows that the team is gelling at the right time. The Thunder faced some adversity in this one as D’Angelo Russell was starting to get it going in that 3rd quarter against the Thunder. There were points in the quarter where the Thunder had to double team him and try to make other people beat them. Russell finished the game with 30 points as the Thunder were able to figure him out in that quarter. The Thunder were double-teaming and had Dennis Schröder face guarding Russell denying him the ball. Alec Burks was another player that had himself a night for the Warriors finishing with 23 points. It seemed like every time the Russell got a rest then Burks was able to pick up the load. Overall the Thunder was too much for the Warriors to handle down the stretch. Chris Paul had some veteran plays to attract fouls and he knows how to get to the free-throw line. This Thunder team will try to stay in the win column as they face the Milwaukee Bucks and the reigning MVP Giannis.
